Ojai is a small rural town surrounded by rolling hills, citrus and avocado orchards. Mainly known to locals, Ojai is located in a picturesque valley that provides access to some beautiful hiking trails. Being away from the busy cities of a Ventura County, the Ojai hiking trails are quiet and gorgeous especially in the spring. Come along with me as we explore our favorite hiking trails in the Ojai area.
Southern California is hot in the summer and all the hills and mountains are brown in color. However, from the end of March through the end of May, especially after some good winter rains, Southern California turns green and explodes with wildflowers and color. There are many places to see the wildflowers of Southern California, but a few of them really stand out as being particularly beautiful and very large in size. Let’s explore together some of my favorite places to see the wildflowers of Southern California.
Point Mugu State Park spans from the Pacific Coast Highway to the edges of Conejo Valley in Ventura County. Hiking here especially in the spring provides a beautiful experience as the waterfalls have water and the wildflowers are in full bloom. Come along with me as I tell you about my favorite places in Point Mugu State Park, from tall peaks all the way to sandy beaches.
I went with my daughter to the beach one weekend. She really wanted to go see “sharks” at the beach. So, we did go to the beach but didn’t see any sharks…which was good. We did see lots of pelicans and one sea lion swimming very close to shore. That was really cool! I decided that we could go to the Point Mugu beach since we haven’t gone there in a long time. We had a great time ! I’ll write more about Point Mugu in another post, but for now take a look at my pictures.
I call this the “Pajama Parade” because parade participants come dressed in their everyday clothes even their pajamas sometimes. Even though it has improved over the years, this is not the “Rose Parade” with fancy floats and carefully selected marching bands. The Camarillo Christmas Parade is a parade for the community; it’s a great feeling to see people you know walking in the parade.
