The Venetian & Palazzo resorts are among the famous casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. A scaled down copy of Venice, Italy, the Venetian follows the successful formula of Las Vegas: gambling, shopping, restaurants and some special attractions. On our recent trip to Vegas I noticed an ad for the 50 greatest photos in the long history of the National Geographic publication. On the one hand I was so excited to go see it, on the other hand I was wondering if it is worth it or not. After all the pictures are all available on line, so why pay to go see them? Venetian is another European copy…scaled down a little obviously. Yes, it has the gondolas, with Italian singers and all…I’m still not sure if the songs are taped (they look and sound very real), but it is copied nevertheless. It’s ok though, ’cause you only drive a few hundred miles from Los Angeles and you get to see Venice…or something pretty close to it.
