Even though there is a lot of tourist information available online, it is still very difficult to know what is worth visiting when going to a new place. Over the years I had the privilege to ask people who know a particular area very well…what are your favorite things to see an do in a particular place. Recently I had the privilege to ask Olivia about her favorite things to do in Chamonix, France. In this short interview I ask Olivia what she likes about Chomonix, France. Read on to find out what to see and do in Chamonix, France.
Chamonix, France is a very famous winter resort but it’s not popular only in the winter. We visited Chamonix at the beginning of October on a bright and sunny day. This great weather gave us awesome views of the Alps and made our one hour drive a breeze. We couldn’t resist stopping at one of the rest stops just to admire the mountains. It proved to be the perfect day trip from Geneva, Switzerland.
We loved this little town. This is a great spot for a day trip from Geneva. We would've loved to take the boat from Geneva but we didn't have enough time. The boat ride takes about two hours because it has to stop in a few places before reaching Yvoire. The boat ride looks very appealing especially on a clear day and I am sure that the views from the boat are just amazing. However, because we didn't have enough time, we decided to drive instead and it took us about 30 minutes from Geneva.
We visited Annecy, France at the beginning of October and stumbled upon this beautiful farmers’ festival. It took me a while to figure out what the name of this festival was but I finally found it: Return from alpine pasture (Le Retour des Alpages). It takes place the second Saturday of October, every year. We just happened to visit Annecy on that Saturday and it was great…We sampled local food, saw a cow parade and listened to local music…all this with tons of other people.
