Genova, Italy has a beautiful location on the Ligurian sea and an amazingly intricate history. The city has been built in layers over the course of history. This layering is especially visible from the old port area as it allows for a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. Unfortunately, we only stopped for a few good hours on our way to the French Riviera. Read on about our walking tour of Genoa, Italy.

Being impressed and tired after visiting Venice for two days, we did not research Padova very well, so we came ill prepared for what the city had to offer. Padova, Italy is a large city with beautiful tourist attractions which makes for a great day trip from Venice if you have an extra day. Padova, has three large areas with attractions, each within 15 minutes walking distance from each other. Read on about my walking tour of Padova, Italy.

Before visiting Venice for the first time, I have read a lot and seen lots of pictures. I understood that Venice is fundamentally different than everything else simply because instead of roads they have water canals. Yeah, I got it…or so I thought. However, when I arrived in the central station in Venice, things were different…very different! Why am I saying that?
Even though there is a lot of tourist information available online, it is still very difficult to know what is worth visiting when visiting a new place. For a while now I have been planning my trip to Barcelona, Spain. I am really excited however when I find a local who wants to share with me the places they like to go visit. Still a little bit like having a local guide you through Barcelona. Recently I had the privilege of speaking with Vincenzo who lives in Barcelona. I also asked him why he likes Barcelona, Spain. We arrived in Verona, Italy after a few hours drive from Milan. We were ready to stretch our legs, but most of all we were eager to experience this symbol of Italian charm and romance. We were very excited to visit Oxford. We had in mind the fame of this town and the beauty of Cambridge. We got there and we tried hard to find parking on the narrow, one way streets. We finally found parking without getting any ticket. Knowing how many famous minds were schooled in Oxford…I felt kind of smart just being there. The old buildings and the street took me back in time…but the young modern students, the cars and everything else reminded me the reality. The bakeries and coffee shops’ aroma, reminded me that I was hungry…but we had to stick to the plan: to see Oxford in one day. Read on about our day trip to Oxford, England.
One of my favorite day trips from London is Bath Somerset. Much of southern England is flat, having very little interesting topography. Bath on the other hand has beautiful rolling hills that set it apart from the surrounding area. A great geographical location coupled with just over two hours drive from London make Bath an easy day trip fro London.
Treviso is a small town in the region of Veneto in Northern Italy. Because Treviso is so close to Venice it gets bypassed by tourists because Venice is such a hot tourist attraction. This makes Treviso a quiet town to visit with plenty of historical buildings and attractions. We definitely enjoyed walking through its narrow streets and admiring the many old buildings scattered all over the town. Treviso boasts a large university and it is also an important industrial city. All this makes Treviso a worthwhile tourist attraction…if you have already seen Venice.
We visited Milan, Italy on a very hot July day. We landed in the middle of a very busy large Italian city and we were relieved that Milan was only going to be a quick stop on our Northern Italy itinerary. Milan is the industrial and financial capital of Northern Italy and as such it is a city full of life. For the tourist, however, Milan is not very exciting. Except for a few extraordinary tourist attractions, Milan is an uninteresting European city. Read on to see some of my travel pictures.
When visiting a major tourist attraction, most people only see the “big” things. It's understandable because not everyone has the luxury of spending a lot of time in a great place. However, most tourist attractions have a lot more to offer than what one can visit in a few hours. Cambridge, England is no exception to the rule. While the town is full of tourist buses that come for a day trip from London, Cambrige yields it's beauty to those who want to slow down and explore the city. Take a look at this beauty in my travel gallery from my first encounter with Cambrige, England.

While visiting the State Capitol and asking around what else to see around the State Capitol we were told to go see Old Sacramento. We listened and figured out quickly where we had to go and we didn’t regret it. It was definitely not as exciting as the State Capitol but we loved strolling by the river and looking at old Wild West type of buildings. Should you visit Old Sacramento? Read on to find out.
I think everyone must visit their state capitol at least once in their lifetime. I believe it is important to see where laws affecting your state are being created, debated and approved. This is the place that is mostly affected by our votes. Granted, you might not like politicians and politics but usually state capitols are places full of history. This is also the case at the California State Capitol in Sacramento.
